Refund status says direct deposit, but I filed for a check! Help?

I have been having a hard time this year with the IRS. They have changed my date 8 times over the past three months. Not instead of a sate for my refund, it states that it will be direct deposited. I did not sign up for direct deposit and have never used this service. I keep trying to call the IRS to no avail since I cannot get an actual person on the line. I filed my taxes with the same guy I have always filed with, but he is out of town this week. Any advice?
